Directions From
Glasgow by ferry BY CAR & FERRY (from Glasgow) - approx 2 hrs Follow the M8 West towards Greenock, continue on A8 onto A770 towards Gourock where you can take either: Caledonian MacBrayne ( http://www.calmac.co.uk/ )ferry from Gourock to Dunoon. From Calmac Ferry Terminal in Dunoon turn right and drive straight on, follow the main street (Argyll Street) out of Dunoon Continue through Sandbank, then take a left onto the B836 signposted Colintraive/Bute Ferry Drive for approximately 20 minutes passing through Clachaig and by the Tarsan Dam. At T-junction turn right onto A886 signposted Strachur/Tighnabruaich Take next left onto A8003 signposted Tighnabruaich. Enjoy the spectacular views of the Kyles of Bute as you wind up the mountain on this last 15 minute stretch towards the village. If using Western Ferries ( http//www.western-ferries.co.uk ) Clyde-Argyll ferry from McInroys Point (Gourock) to Hunters Quay (Dunoon) . From Western Ferries Terminal at Hunters Quay turn right onto A815 shore road. Continue until entering Sandbank brings you to T-junction, turn right signposted Glasgow Follow road until signpost for left turn onto B836 towards Colintraive/Bute Ferry and continue as above. BY CAR & FERRY (from Prestwick) - approx 2 hrs. Join the A78 and travel north along the coast for approximately 45 mins, taking either: Calmac ferry from Wemyss Bay to Bute and then second Calmac ferry from North Bute to Colintraive. Turning left from the ferry, drive for approx 15mins until coming to left turnoff signposted Tighnabruaich . Western Ferries from McInroys Point to Hunters Quay 15 minutes further north (quicker and cheaper route) and follow same route to Tighnabruaich as outlined above. From Glasgow by road BY CAR (from Glasgow) - VIA LOCH LOMOND - approx 2 hrs Follow the M8 West towards Greenock/Erskine Bridge Leave the M8 at Junction 30, then join M898 motorway signposted Erskine Bridge Cross over the Erskine Bridge and turn left off the bridge onto A82 Follow the road past Loch Lomondside to Tarbet, take left to A83 here, continue over the spectacular Rest & Be Thankful mountain pass Take next left turn onto A815 signposted Dunoon Continue until you see signpost for right turn onto A886 towards Glendaruel/Colintraive/Tighnabruaich Drive for approx 20 mins passing through the Clachan of Glendaruel then take right turn onto A8003 which takes you into Tighnabruaich |
